Sleep Over at Aunt Jenn's!

The Littles were here! And they each brought a friend.

Sydney's guest was her bestie, Emily.

Now meet Molly.
She is on Allyson's soccer team and she was Ally's guest here at Aunt Jenn's for the night.

Drop off: 6:30 pm
 Pick up: 12 noon...

What do you do with 4 little girls for all that time?
Well... I had a few tricks up my sleeve...

Pretend picnics...

Tree swing...

...Spirograph!
You heard me right! Do you remember this, people? I spent endless hours trying to make the perfect spiro-design...hands down, my favorite thing to do when I was their age.

I also had lots of snacks and a great movie on hand. But the best thing we did was...
Crayon melting!

I had Syd bring all of their old broken crayons. I put the Littles to work peeling the paper and then breaking them into smaller pieces.

Next we sorted them according to color...blues, reds, greens and browns/blacks.

We used those little metal cups from votive candles for molds. I got 50 of them for $2.50 at Walmart. The wax popped out really easily and we lined them up on an old cookie sheet.

Here we are all lined up and ready to go in the oven. The oven is set on 250...allowing them to melt for about 10 minutes.

We let the molds cool for a while...half an hour...you could put them in the freezer if you are in a hurry or just generally impatient.

Next we popped them out of the molds. The crayons don't stick so if you push the bottom they loosen enough to pop out.

The girls were so tickled with the results!

Now that's cool!

The girls made me this card:

Isn't that the sweetest thing ever??
Another great time with my baby nieces and their little friends,
who, by the way, are now calling me "Aunt Jenn"!

  3. That will be a memory they will always treasure. I know they had a blast. Meredith went to a sleepover and they made t-shirts and bracelets, painted nails, watched movies. She thought it was the most wonderful thing ever. I'll have to get melting with our broken crayons.
