Mud Sale

I went to something called a "Mud Sale" today. There was lots of mud, though none of the mud was actually for sale, tee hee. It was a huge outdoor (and therefore very muddy) auction, with tents lined up containing everything from cameras to mason jars. There was an entire tent filled with Amish crafts,
one with plants and many open areas where people were bidding on farm equipment. Hundreds of people were milling around enjoying the food, the weather and the carnival atmosphere. It was a great time to take in the scenery and mingle with the locals, most of which were Amish. Ordinarily it is understood that members of the Amish community do not like to be photographed.
They believe photos can lead to pride and invade their privacy. They think photographs violate Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
I suppose I may have violated the code...but I certainly wasn't invading anyone's privacy, so I tried to be as discrete as possible while attempting to get a few good captures. A big "thanks" to my sweet niece, Staci for inviting me along and tipping me to bring my camera. She's so smart :)

Mimi's World

Walk in my front door on any given day and you might be taking your life into your hands.
If the babies are there it's like trying to maneuver a toy mine field.
How can 2 infants under the age of 13 months destroy a room in record time?
Not that I mind, goodness knows I have made available a veritable Mimi's Toys R Us.

"Playtime makes me sleepy"

"Squeallllll! I think it's the Easter Bunny!"

"Mimi, this call is rather private...do you mind?"

Today, Sharon Hokuf gave me a special gift for the girls. A handmade apron for each of them to wear when they "help" Mimi in the kitchen. I couldn't resist putting them in the aprons today for a little pretend "baking". SOOO CUTE! Thanks Sharon. You have blessed us!!

How adorable is this baby in her apron? **sigh**

"I think I can get these in my pocket! Sweet!"

Brooke is always found sitting INSIDE the thing, whatever it is. She just can't help it.
I wish I had a picture of every single receptacle she has backed up and sat down in.
She is fascinated with her ability to fit into various items,
my antique bowl is no different...

"Mimi, where is the brownie batter? An empty bowl? Really?"
Soon enough we'll be baking together and licking the spoon. :)

Thanks for visiting Mimi's World today. :)

The Beauty of Fall

I really hope you guys don't get sick of me posting pictures!! I have been taking a lot of pics lately, the fall colors are impossible to resist!

My photo goal last week was to get Mike and Jeannie out for a session with Baby (Bump) Brooke **smile**sigh**
Sooo, like a good photographer I went out for a walk
to check out light, color and good spots for their pictures.

Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Psalm 96:11-13

Okay, pretty pics and all...now where are the people?

Yay! Now for some real beauty...my son and his girl(s)...aren't they sweet?

Well...goodness...I could just look at these two all day. Just wait till Brooke gets here! My heart is full already, and I'm sure being "Grammy" will cause it to overflow!!

Now...in other "news"..

The Littles were here!

Alex invited them over, along with her little sister, niece and her cousin Kelly and her adorable baby, Lexi, Jeannie and a few other friends.

We carved pumpkins, had a bonfire and ate about a ga-jillion S'mores...Lots of giggling, snorting, and squealing ensued. It was a girly bonfire. No boys allowed. As soon as Uncle Jim got the fire going
and made sure no one cut their hand off  helped with the finer points of pumpkin carving,
he hi-tailed it back to the house!

Happy Fall!!
